New storks
The second stage of the reintroduction project of the white stork in the Urdaibai Natural Reserved began the last 5th of October. We received a donation of 24 storks by the "Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Salvaje de Vallcadent" (Lleida). The event took place in the Reintroduction Centre of Atxaga and the mayors of Forua, Kortezubi, Muxika and Busturia participated in it, as well as some teachers and students from the Urretxindorra School of Muxika. These new storks will remain in Atxaga until they are released in 2007.

First symposium on natural heritage conservation
Last January Urdaibai Foundation and the Basque Official Association of Biologists organised in Gernika the "First symposium on natural heritage conservation: management tools for biodiversity protection". Some experts and stakeholders brought up the latest experiences and strategies focused on achieving that objective.

Planting campaign
Our planting campaign was given for finalised on March 13th. This action, within the Quercus project, last for the winter. 1.305 trees and bushes were planted in 7 plots over 8 working days. The volunteer work and collaboration of 98 volunteers, associates and stakeholders was extremely appreciated.

Loose of white storks
Because of the loose one of the first group of white storks of the program of reintroduction of the species in Urdaibai, the past day 5 of March we celebrate a festive act in Forua in which they took part 400 people. Besides a projection that summarised the phases and objectives of the project, the mayors of the collaborating City Hall did delivery of a diploma to the born children in 2004 in their municipalities
